Microbrews are very popular in the United States.

And people aren’t just drinking the beers — they’re cooking with them, too.

FOX8’s Shannon Smith stopped by the Spring House in Winston-Salem to find out how they do it.

Here are some recipes:

Foothills inspired Beer Cheese

2 jumbo brews, reduce ¾
add 2 qt. heavy cream
1 qt half & half
2 bricks cheddar cheese

Sesame Crusted Salt & Pepper Pork w. Lemon Chive Aioli

pork tenderloin

1 t. superfine sugar
3 T. soy sauce
1 T. beer
salt and pepper

3 T. cornstarch

oil for frying
scallions

Lemon Chive Aioli

Begin by mixing the sugar, soy sauce, bourbon/beer, and pepper in a small bowl. Pour the marinade on the pork. Place in the refrigerator for 30 minutes, or up to overnight.

Heat oil to 350 degrees. As the oil is heating, remove the pork from the bag, not including the marinade, and add to a bowl. Sprinkle the cornstarch on top of the pork pieces, and make sure every piece gets the cornstarch on it.

Add the pork in batches and cook for about 4 minutes. Once a light golden brown, remove to a strainer, and repeat the process with the remaining pork. Once you fried all of the pork, add the drained pieces back to the oil and cook for another two minutes. This will change the texture a bit more, as well as the color.

Take a generous pinch of the ground salt and pepper and sprinkle on top of the pieces.
