SPENCER, N.C. — An arrest has been made in a double homicide that happened in Spencer last week.

Kenneth Wayne Abel Jr., of Salisbury, has been arrested and charged with murder.

Officers responded to the 600 block of Fifth Street around 10 p.m. last Wednesday and found two men dead inside.

Family members told WSOC that the two were killed during a robbery, but police would not confirm that and did not know how the family had come to that conclusion.

Other arrested are expected in the near future, according to the Spencer Police Department.
