A city in North Carolina has recently been named one of the best places in the country to live.

247wallst.com recently published a list called “America’s 50 Best Cities to Live.” Cary took the number eight spot.

Cary is the seventh largest municipality in North Carolina and is in Wake and Chatham counties. It was the only city from the Tar Heel state to make the list.

Cary ranked high for several reasons including the rapidly-growing downtown and low unemployment rate, according to the website.

“A typical home in Cary is worth nearly $300,000, roughly double the statewide median home value. While Cary’s real estate market is relatively expensive, taxes are quite low, equal to less than 1% of typical home values,” according to the article.

The website took various factors into account when publishing the study, including median household income, unemployment rate, median home value, amount of violent crime and average commuter travel time.

The number one city on the list was Newton, Massachusetts, followed by Bellevue, Washington and Mountain View, California.
