Police were called to the apartment at 3600 N. Hayden Road on Sept. 15, for a report of an intoxicated woman kicking the front of apartment.

Police learned the woman, later identified as 30-year-old Nicole Breault-Pequeno, lived in different unit where her two children, ages 6 and 10, had been left the day before.

Breault-Pequeno was charged with child neglect and cocaine possession.

Child welfare services took her children into their custody and later turned them over to their paternal grandmother in Tucson.

The grandmother took the children to the doctor, where bite marks were found on the 10-year-old girl’s right leg and left arm and reported to police on Sept. 17.

On Sept. 24, the girls were interviewed by police and the 6-year-old said they were left alone in a hotel in Las Vegas while their mother got a drink from the bar and didn’t come home until they were sleeping.

The 6-year-old told police there was a “family secret” she couldn’t talk about. She alleged that her mother pulled hair until her head hit an ironing board and choked her until she had trouble breathing, according to the police report.

The 10-year-old told police her mother was mad because her dad did not come home, her mother told her to call her dad and every time he didn’t answer, the girl alleged that her mother would slap her on the arms and legs.

Her mother thought she heard police and told the girl to hide under the bed, when the girl couldn’t fit under the bed fast enough, she said her mom bit her arm and leg, according to the police report.

On Sept. 29, Breault-Pequeno was in police custody on an unrelated disorderly conduct charge when she was arrested on two counts of child abuse. She denied any abuse.

Police said there have been three previous reports on the woman with CPS.

In 2009, the older daughter told a school official that her mother bit her. Breault-Pequeno admitted to biting her, but said she was trying to be funny saying that she was “going to eat her up,” according to the police report. She was never charged.
