There has been a lot in the news over the last year about how North Carolina ranks among the worst states in the country for teacher pay.

But a new national survey ranks this state as the worst for teachers for several other reasons as well.

The survey is by a group out of Washington, D.C., called WalletHub. Normally, it does surveys about consumer financial issues, but with this particular survey they looked at 18 different factors like salaries, spending per student and safety.

North Carolina ranked dead last.

The data used was from 2013, so it doesn’t take into account the teacher pay changes put in place this year or the recent changes to school security.

Still, it’s not good advertising for North Carolina on many different fronts.
