ROCK, W.Va. — A North Carolina woman who was riding an ATV Friday night failed to negotiate a curve on the Old Windmill Gap Road in West Virginia and plummeted approximately 150 feet over the side of the mountain.

The Bluefield Daily Telegraph reported that Katherine Greene, 38, of Apex, was pronounced dead on the way to the hospital.

Officials say Greene was riding with her husband and three friends when she misjudged  the second curve from the Montcalm side of Windmill Gap Road. The road does not have guardrails in that area, officials confirmed.
