HENDERSON COUNTY, N.C. — A 79-year-old North Carolina woman is recovering after officials said she was attacked by three dogs Friday morning in the Etowah Community.

WYFF4.com reported that the dogs mauled the woman at her home and then dragged her 12 to 15 feet onto her neighbor’s property.

The victim crawled back to her home and used her cell phone to call her brother, according to officials.

The brother then reportedly took her to the hospital, with various bites and lacerations. Authorities said she was in critical but stable condition.

Officials did not say who owns the dogs or where they came from. Specific details leading up to the alleged attack remain uncertain.

The suspected dogs were a hound mix, a Labrador retriever and a beagle mix, according to officials. They were taken to the Henderson County Animal Shelter.
