Felicia Green (Smith Co. Jail)

TYLER, Texas — Tyler police arrested a grandmother after she left an infant in her car while going to see a movie.

Just after 8 p.m. Wednesday night, officers with the Tyler Police Department responded to a welfare concern at the Carmike Movie Theater, regarding a child locked inside a vehicle.

Once on scene, officers spoke with Tyler firefighters who moments earlier unlocked the vehicle and removed the child.

Carmike Theater personnel were contacted and assisted in locating the owner of the vehicle, identified as 49-year-old Felicia Green of Tyler, inside one of the movie theaters.

While speaking with Felicia Green, police learned that the child was only five months old and that Green was the child’s grandmother.

Officers also learned the child had been left unattended in the vehicle for about an hour.

Following their investigation, the child, who was unharmed, was released to a family member and Green was placed under arrest for child endangerment, a state jail felony, and taken to the Smith County jail.
