Elwood Robinson Winston-Salem State’s new chancellor
WINSTON-SALEM, N.C. — Elwood Robinson, the provost and vice president for academic affairs at Cambridge College in Cambridge, Mass., was named the new chancellor at Winston-Salem State this afternoon, ending a four-month process to find the school’s next top administrator, according to the Winston-Salem Journal.
Robinson will replace Chancellor Donald Reaves, 67, who will retire Dec. 31 after serving seven years.
The UNC board of governors held a special meeting in the Reaves Student Activities Center on the WSSU campus to vote on the candidate recommended by UNC system President Tom Ross.
Robinson and Virginia Hardy, the vice chancellor of student affairs at East Carolina University, were two of the three candidates that the WSSU board of trustees recommended to Ross.
The third, Harry WIlliams, the president of Delaware State University, withdrew his name from consideration earlier this month.
