Marijuana growing operation busted in Randleman

RANDLEMAN, N.C. — A man is facing numerous charges after detectives with the Randolph County Sheriff’s Office busted a marijuana growing operation on Tuesday.

Randell Roger Atkins II, 30, of Randleman, is charged with numerous drug violations, two counts of possession of a firearm by a felon and resisting a public officer, as well as being served with outstanding charges for assault by strangulation, assault with a deadly weapon inflicting serious injury and two counts of assault on a female.

Detectives searched a residence located at 2536 Spero Road in Randleman and located an indoor marijuana growing operation.

Detectives seized approximately 15 pounds of marijuana, various prescription medications, psilocybin, ketamine, $4,912 in cash and two firearms.

Atkins was taken into custody under a $702,000 secured bond.
