There are several events happening throughout the Piedmont that will allow you to pay tribute to the victims of 9/11.

  • In Kernersville, a “Day of Remembrance” event will be held at the Carolina Field of Honor at Triad Park. A steel beam from Ground Zero will be on display and dedicated to the park at 8:30 a.m.
  • In Winston-Salem, the Second Annual “Climb for Courage” starts at 6 a.m. at BB&T Stadium. Participants will run the stadium steps – one step for each victim.
  • In Burlington, first responders, houses of worship and people in the community will take part in a “Moment of Remembrance.” They’ll ring bells and sound sirens for one minute at 8:46 a.m. to coincide with the time the first plane hit the World Trade Center.
  • In Greensboro, students at Southern Guilford High School will mark 9/11 by turning the school’s auditorium into a 9/11 museum.
