LAKE WORTH, Fla. — Palm Beach County Sheriff’s Office deputies serving a search warrant at a suburban Lake Worth home made an unusual discovery Wednesday.

After seizing a computer and arresting Douglas Westcott for sexual conduct of a child, they say they found 50 dead cats in a freezer and dozens of other cats still alive at the house 5900 block of Ithaca Circle West.

Deputies contacted Palm Beach County Animal Care and Control to remove the animals.

Neighbors say for months they’ve seen cats wandering around in the streets and had no idea where the cats were coming from.
