CARY, N.C. — Fayetteville police have arrested a man wanted in connection to a Friday night murder in Cary, according to WTVD-TV.

Police found 36-year-old Daniel Scott Remington in the area of Owen Drive and Hunter Circle in Fayetteville.

Officials said the suspect was turned over to the Cary Police Department early Sunday morning after a warrant was issued for his arrest late Saturday.

Cary police say Remington’s victim was 58-year-old Wendy Jean Johnson, from Sanford. They responded to a call of shots fired Friday around 11 p.m. at the 200 block of Hyde Park Court.

When they arrived, they found Johnson had been shot. She was rushed to Duke University Medical Center but did not survive.

Residents in the apartments on Hyde Park Court tell ABC11 that Johnson was a nurse, and she was there to help a family with a sick child overnight. A woman who did not want to be identified said she heard the gunshot and called 911.
