NC woman accused of leaving baby in vehicle to shop at Walmart

JACKSONVILLE, N.C. — Police have arrested a woman in connection with leaving her baby daughter alone in a car while she shopped at a Walmart.

WCTI reports that Cherilynn Nichole Pangelinan, 28, of Jacksonville, is charged with misdemeanor child abuse.

Pangelinan allegedly left her 11-month-old daughter in a car seat in an unlocked car with the windows up on Saturday.

Police say a concerned citizen called 911. The baby was alone in the vehicle for about 15 minutes, the warrants state.

Pangelinan was arrested in the parking lot of Walmart. She was released on a $1,000 bond and made her first court appearance on Monday.
