CATAWBA COUNTY, N.C. — Troopers are looking for a vehicle that struck a person on Highway 321 in Catawba County early Monday morning.

The person, whose identity has not been released, was killed in the accident.

Emergency workers were called to the scene around 7:15 a.m.

Troopers said they are looking for a 1996-2000 black 2-door Honda Civic with extensive front-end damage and a shattered windshield.

Investigators were able to determine the make and model of the car because pieces of it were laying next to the victim in the median.

Troopers expect to be on scene all morning.
