WALNUT COVE, N.C. – Authorities said about $75,000 worth of damage was reported after an apartment fire in Walnut Cove that has been determined to have been arson.

The fire started around 5:41 p.m. Saturday at 906 Regency Apartments Lane, according to Walnut Cove Fire Marshall Anthony Stewart.

The fire was started inside the apartment and has since been extinguished, according to Stewart. There is no word on injuries.

Stewart said that deputies and the fire department are continuing to investigate.
