8-year-old boy drowns in pool at NC apartment complex

CHARLOTTE, N.C. — An 8-year-old boy drowned in a pool at a Charlotte apartment complex on Saturday night, according to WSOC-TV.

Officials said it was reported in the 1700 block of Renard Ridge Drive.

The pool was in a fenced area. Police said three children climbed the fence surrounding the pool area and began to swim.

The 8-year-old had trouble swimming in the deep end, according to police. His identity has not been released.

Medics took the boy to an area hospital where he was pronounced dead.

Authorities said there is no suspicion of foul play or any indication charges will be filed.
