Winston-Salem standoff suspect out of hospital; faces firearm, drug charges

WINSTON-SALEM, N.C. — The suspect in Friday’s nearly 10-hour standoff in Winston-Salem has been released from the hospital and faces numerous charges.

Larry Jason Chambers, 36, of North Wilkesboro, was hospitalized after stabbing himself in the chest at the end of a standoff with police at Ardsley Street and Lockland Avenue.

Chambers is charged with possession of a firearm by a convicted felon, larceny and numerous drug charges involving methamphetamine and marijuana. Many of these charges are out of Wilkes and Yadkin counties.

Chambers is currently confined in the Forsyth County Jail.
