GREENSBORO, N.C. -- A North Carolina man was arrested earlier this month in New York and is accused of actively trying to be part of the terror group ISIS.

Donald Ray Morgan, 44, was arrested by the FBI as he arrived at John F. Kennedy International airport from Germany on Aug. 2.

Morgan is a convicted felon who is wanted in Rowan County on federal weapon charges.

Prosecutors in New York argued Morgan should remain in custody because he had been posting questionable messages on social media in support of the terrorist group ISIS.

The messages led counter-terrorism agents to believe that Morgan may be a threat, and that he may be joining ISIS.

Morgan was being held without bail in New York, but will be brought back to Greensboro to be tried in federal court for the weapons charge.
