MORGANTON, N.C. — Three people have been found dead inside a Morganton home and investigators are working to determine what happened.

WSOC-TV reported that authorities learned of the situation after officers responded to a home on West Concord Street around 1:15 a.m. Sunday.

Freddie Thompson, 21, and his mother Barbara Johnson, 50, were found dead early Sunday morning. Thompson was mentally handicapped.

Zakiyah Bey, 75, was identified as the third victim. She was a New York native who lived in Charlotte.

Morganton Public Safety Investigators and the North Carolina State Bureau of Investigations are still investigating.
