NC man accused of stealing motorcycle from Walmart, leading authorities on chase
LINCOLN COUNTY, N.C. — A North Carolina man has been charged with driving while impaired after officials said he stole a motorcycle from Walmart and led deputies on a chase.
WBTV reported that Coley Phillip Craft, 43, of Cherryville, was arrested and charged with eluding law enforcement, possession of stolen goods and larceny of a motor vehicle.
Deputies noticed the suspect crossing the center line and running a stop sign around 2 a.m. Thursday in Lincoln County, according to WCNC.com.
After fleeing authorities, he allegedly dropped the motorcycle off in a parking lot and ran into some nearby woods. The motorcycle had been reported as stolen from a Walmart in Cherryville.
Craft was also cited with driving while impaired, driving with a revoked license, reckless driving and resisting arrest.
The suspect was placed in the Lincoln County Detention Center under a $30,000 secured bond. He has court planned for Aug. 26.
