YADKIN COUNTY, N.C. — A man is in custody after deputies say he drove recklessly and fled to elude arrest.

Berlie Franklin Wagoner, 72, of Hamptonville, is charged with fleeing to elude arrest with a motor vehicle, reckless driving to endanger and driving with a revoked license.

The Yadkin County Sheriff’s Office received a call from a concerned citizen on Tuesday saying that Wagoner was driving with a revoked license.

The responding deputy located Wagoner in Hamptonville and attempted to execute a traffic stop. Wagoner accelerated away to elude the stop and the deputy lost sight of his vehicle in a residential area.

Shortly after, the deputy located Wagoner’s vehicle and Wagoner parked in the woods near his home.

Wagoner was placed under a $15,000 secured bond and was scheduled to make his first court appearance Aug. 6.

By the looks of his smile, he was having a good time with the cops. Too bad will cost him so much money. And yes…he could have hurt someone and yes it was careless… at his age Im impressed with those driving skills..
