PHILADELPHIA — Two children taken from a home near Philadelphia after a woman was apparently shot to death were found safe in New York City early Thursday morning, and a man in a vehicle that was sought by police was found dead, according to WPMT.

Police responded to a home in Drexel Hill, Pennsylvania, around 2:30 a.m. where officers found a blood trail on the front step. Inside the home, officers found the body of 28-year-old Christina Belajonas, who lived there with her two sons.

Investigators said she had been shot in the head and had “multiple” stab wounds.

A neighbor told police he watched Keith Belajonas leave the home with the two boys. The neighbor overheard one of the boys say “Is mommy dead?,” Superintendent Michael Chitwood of Upper Darby told the Associated Press.

An AMBER Alert was issued and the children were found at a CVS in New York, according to WPIX. The children were taken to a local hospital to get checked out.

The suspect left the CVS and SWAT vehicles followed the vehicle. He was later found dead inside the vehicle of a self-inflicted gunshot wound.

Authorities are investigating whether Keith Belajonas was responsible for a posting on Facebook apparently referencing the victim, according to the New York Daily News.

“Had an argument with her. She was cheating on me. I won,” the Facebook posting said, according to Chitwood.
