CHARLOTTE, N.C. — A Charlotte-Mecklenburg police officer was arrested Wednesday after police say he sexually assaulted an underage family member.

Reginald K. Harris has been charged with three counts of first-degree sex offense, three counts of indecent liberties with a minor and three counts of crimes against nature.

Police say the charges stem from a criminal investigation which began on July 3, 2014, and revealed that Harris sexually assaulted an underage family member on several occasions between 1999 and 2002.

Dia Harris, 40, the wife of Harris, was also arrested and charged her with three counts of felony child abuse, three counts of indecent liberties with a minor, three counts of crime against nature and 3 counts of first degree sex offense for her involvement in the case.

Reginald Harris has been placed on unpaid administrative leave.

Detectives are investigating to determine if there are any other incidents and/or victims involved.

    • sinner ?

No they are not when you depend and take for granted that all people love your children as you do !

Tracey it is mostly a product of how society has changed in this country over the last 30 years and the culture of the many people who now populate this once great nation.

Wait. Wait. 2002 – 2014 = 12 years. Is anyone asking the question: Why does it take 12 years for this case to be prosecuted? This crime occurred from 1999-2002. Was there a cover up here?

Between the cops, preachers and teachers, how do any children make it to adulthood with their chastity intact?

  • sinner ?

Why do we not hold people such as these to a higher standard ? why is the death penalty not imposed when you destroy a child’s innocence !!

You idiots keep trusting the lying, cheating, good for nothing law enforcement officers. Almost every day, 1 of your “HEROES” has done something to our children, our family, or to themselves to cause problems. Why do you continue to trust them? They are lazy, overweight, disrespectful, good for nothing pigs that are just as bad as any gang member or drug dealer they are always looking to lock up But you keep supporting and praising them as if they do no wrong. WAKE UP PEOPLE!

You sound bitter for whatever reason that is………

Actually MOST LEO’s have good intentions, but liberal policy limits their ability to do their jobs….which is exactly another reason why crime has increased so much in this once great nation. LEO, firefighter, nurse, doctor, pastor, cab driver, stay at home do nothing… doesn’t matter because they are all human and more than likely in their profession simply because it’s a job…just like the politicians.

Thank you NCLAME…..your post are so boring, and out of touch with real life. NANCE, go back to reading your Senior Weekly. Both you idiots have attacked me, while the real issue is this law enforcement officer, your protector, the safe person people teach their children its okay to talk to, has been accused of sexually abusing a child. You cant reverse that. It does not go away with therapy. Its is a life long real fact, this child will always remember and have to deal with. It affects the entire family, and the one day the child’s own family. Go law enforcement and the rest of your “Heroes”!! Idiots

One officer was charged idiot. This officer was not born as a police officer. He was selected from the general population for a position in law enforcement. The same population you came from.
