ASHEBORO, N.C. -- If you are a fan of barbecue and biking, a new event this weekend in Asheboro may be the place for you.

Friday night at 6 p.m., the "Pigs and Pedals" festival will kick off with live music and a beer garden set up downtown.

The main events are on Saturday -- a barbecue cook-off and a bicycle race. 32 teams will compete in the cook-off to win more than $20,000 in prize money. The bike race itself is part of a broader six day bike tour through North Carolina called the Criterium.

The City of Asheboro expects about 3,000 people to attend throughout the weekend. Events also include a BMX bike show, food trucks and activities for children.
