Pedestrian struck, killed in Fayetteville

FAYETTEVILLE, N.C. — Fayetteville police say a pedestrian was hit and killed in the area of Morganton Road and McFayden Drive Sunday morning.

Authorities told WTVD-TV that a man was crossing Morganton Road around 5:45 a.m. when he was struck by a vehicle.

The pedestrian was pronounced dead at the scene. The driver, 25-year-old Jessica Scott, was not injured.

Officials had to close Morganton Road between McFayden Drive and Tollhouse Drive while they investigated. The road reopened just before 10 a.m.

The victim’s identity has not been released.

There’s no word yet on whether charges will be filed. The accident is still under investigation.
