FORT BRAGG, N.C. — Fort Bragg officials confirm a contractor has died in a trench collapse, according to WTVD-TV.

Military and Fayetteville emergency responders answered the call shortly before noon Thursday off Manchester Road.

Officials said the worker was trapped by the collapse near Ammunition Supply Point on Fort Bragg.

Just after 2 p.m. post officials said the rescue mission turned into a recovery effort. The worker has not been identified, and investigators are still working to determine the cause of the collapse.
