GREENSBORO, N.C. — A woman in Greensboro has made it her mission to make sure people in need do not go without food.

Ashley Benton was out a Center City Park in Greensboro this weekend to feed the hungry in the community.

Benton started with the Green Team Ministry after her father died in 2011. She said no matter what time of year, she’s always out at the park every Sunday to help.

“This problem is getting worse and we’ve been out here almost two years now every Sunday,” she said.

Benton said she receives donations from friends, family and anyone willing to help. Anyone wanting to donate can visit her website at

Something I am learning here, Just Saying, is DON’T FEED THE TROLLS! Bo, Sinner, Fumb Ducks, Will Grant, etc. are trolls or firestarters. They say something negative (generally packaged as something stupid or racist) in hopes that someone will respond and then they can indulge their narcissism by verbally fighting with you. And it’s hard not to feed them–I’ve done it myself. But there are some folks here that say things that are intellectually stimulating and thoughtful. You appear to be looking for that kind of outlet, as am I and some others. So, if we ignore the trolls, they may not go away. But they will be having a one-sided, ignorant conversation with themselves. And really, fighting with them is no fun. You will win–your brain touches your spinal cord. But winning an argument against them is like winning a basketball game against a 5 year old–it’s a hollow victory.
