DAYTONA BEACH, Fla. — Police said a Florida father beat a man unconscious after finding him sexually abusing his 11-year-old son.

Police told the Daytona Beach News-Journal that the father walked in on the 18-year-old suspect abusing his son Friday and then beat him unconscious.

The incident happened Friday at the boy’s home in Daytona Beach, according to police. The father reportedly left the suspect, Raymond Frolander, “unconscious in a puddle of blood.”

Authorities said the suspect lived next door to the victim and had allegedly been abusing the child since he was eight.

The 35-year-old father will not be charged in the beating, according to police.

“Dad was acting like a dad,” said Daytona Beach police Chief Mike Chitwood. “I don’t see anything we should charge the dad with. You have an 18-year-old who has clearly picked his target, groomed his target and had sex with the victim multiple times.”

The suspect is being held without bail. He has admitted to the abuse, according to an arrest affidavit.
