NEWTON, N.C. — Officials identified, interviewed then cleared a person of interest in connection with the counselor who was killed in Newton.

Officials told WSOC that person of interest is someone who was mentioned on social media as a person Maggie Daniels had issues with in the past at her apartment.

The person of interest was interviewed, fully cooperated with investigators and police say he is no longer a person of interest.

Investigators are continuing to review multiple social media sites for more tips and leads.
