HICKORY, N.C. — A husband and wife were arrested and charged after police found an unlicensed daycare Wednesday, according to the Hickory Police Department.

WSOC reported that a sexual assault investigation led to the discovery of an unlicensed in-home daycare facility on 16th Avenue NW in Hickory.

There are reportedly no signs outside saying it is a daycare, and the only visible indication that children may have been kept there is a barrier across the back porch that could keep children from going down the steps.

Police say Crisofor Parra Casareal is charged with indecent liberties with a child and first-degree sexual assault. He has a pending charge of operating an unlicensed daycare.

His wife, Tonya Lynn Casareal was arrested on felony warrant for operating an unlicensed daycare.

The investigation is ongoing.

Anyone having knowledge of children who were taken to that address should contact the Hickory Police Department at 828-328-5551.
