HIGH POINT — A pedestrian is suffering from serious injuries after being struck by a vehicle in High Point Wednesday morning.

The unknown pedestrian was hit on S. Main Street just before 7:50 a.m.

The accident happened in the 900 block of S. Main Street, in front of the GTCC campus.

Officials said the woman was running northbound on S. Main Street when she crossed from west to east outside the crosswalk. The driver stopped after the accident.

    People tend to take crosswalks for granted but they are there for a reason. Pedestrians should always try to use them when they are provided. This particular location, there is a lot of traffic and not using them makes it even more dangerous than it already is.
