DAVIDSON COUNTY, N.C. — The Davidson County Health Department will close its dental clinic on Friday, according to officials.

The clinic was at Davidson Medical Ministries/Davidson Health Services on Salisbury Street.

“It has been our privilege to be able to provide dental services for children with Medicaid and Health Choice for the past 15 years but due to other local Dental Offices being able to more efficiently provide a wider range of services for adults and children, we are closing our clinic,” a prepared news release stated.

Patients have been made aware of the closing and will be given instructions on how to have their records released to other providers.

A list of potential dentists can be found at http://www.ncdhhs.gov/dma/dental/dentalprov.htm.

East Carolina University School of Dental Medicine plans to open a Community Service Learning Center on the campus of Davidson County Community College to provide dental care in the Fall of this year.

This center will address the shortage of dentists in rural underserved areas. For information on the opening of this center, visit www.ecu.edu/dental.
