JAMESTOWN, N.C. — All lanes of Business 85 have reopened after a multiple-vehicle accident Wednesday morning.

Troopers say a vehicle was traveling northbound on Business 85 near Vickrey Chapel Road around 7:25 a.m. and when the driver attempted to change lanes, sideswiped another vehicle sending them both across the median.

One vehicle collided with a dump truck and the other vehicle collided with a passenger car. A fifth vehicle was also involved in the crash.

Three people have been taken to the hospital, but there are no details on the extent of their injuries. No injuries are reported to be life-threatening.

Troopers say the dump truck was partially in the northbound lane and leaking diesel fuel.

The driver of the vehicle that caused the crash, Shelly Jackson, 35, of High Point, was charged with careless/reckless driving.

Speed and recklessness is way out of hand. I travel daily from Whitsett, through Jamestown, to Winston-Salem, and it’s not uncommon to see vehicles exceeding 100 mph, going in and out of lanes. The NCHP and local law enforcement really need to step it up.
