STONEVILLE, N.C. — An Apex Family reported overdue by the kayak vendor they used has been found, according to Rusty Gray of the Madison Rescue Squad.

The family of four began a kayak trip on the Dan River about 1 p.m.

The trip usually takes three to four hours but the river outfitter became concerned when they hadn’t finished the trip by 6:30 p.m.

The Madison and Eden Rescue squads responded with boats and searched the river, finding the family safe shortly after 9 p.m.
