DANBURY, N.C. — Crews have located two 15-year-olds reported missing on Friday after they went tubing on the Dan River in Stokes County.

The two teenagers were found shortly after 3:30 p.m. Friday and are safe, officials said.

Around 3:15 p.m., crews confirmed they were searching for two teenagers that went missing in the Dan River at Moratock Park in Stokes County. The initial call came in at 2 p.m.

Stokes County EMS Director Greg Collins said the teenagers were tubing on the river and were “overdue.”

Collins said similar incidents happen “two to three times a year.”
