DAVIDSON COUNTY, N.C. — The Davidson County Sheriff’s Office is investigating after officials said a man was found dead on his front porch.

Deputies said they responded to a call of a possible shooting around 10 p.m. Friday at a home on Hill Road in the Silver Valley community.

Officials said they found the victim after officers arrived to the residence near the intersection of Old Highway 64 East.

Deputies said 48-year-old Carl Lewis Swaney was found on his front porch with a fatal gunshot wound to his upper torso.

A suspect has been questioned and released, according to deputies. The investigation is ongoing.

Swaney’s body will be taken to the Medical Examiner’s Office on Monday for an autopsy, according to deputies.

Authorities will conduct more interviews and discussing the results with the District Attorney before any charges will be brought against any suspects.
