FERNDALE, Wash. — A 4-year-old girl helped detectives solve a home invasion case in Ferndale, Wash., according to KCPQ.

Investigators said the girl’s 17-year-old babysitter orchestrated a false home invasion along with her 16-year-old boyfriend and another male suspect. The babysitter then made up a story, saying two armed black men broke into the home.

The babysitter said one of the suspects looked like a next door neighbor. Police handcuffed and questioned neighbor Cody Oaks for several hours. But 4-year-old Abby knew her neighbor was not responsible and foiled her babysitter’s plot.

Abby told investigators the suspects had white skin, not black, and that’s when the babysitter’s story started to crumble. She ultimately confessed to the crime.

As for the items stolen from the family’s home, Abby said, “They got it back because of me being the superhero.”

The babysitter and her alleged accomplices were arrested and could face robbery, burglary and perjury charges.
