A Severe Thunderstorm Warning had previously been issued for Southeastern Guilford County and Alamance County.

Doppler radar indicated a severe thunderstorm capable of producing quarter size hail and damaging winds in excess of 58 mph. This storm was located eight miles south of Graham and moving southeast at 5 mph.

Locations impacted included Burlington, Graham, Mebane, Elon, Gibsonville, Haw River, Swepsonville and Snow Camp.

Severe thunderstorms produce damaging winds, destructive hail, deadly lightning and very heavy rain. For protection, people should move to an interior room on the lowest floor of a home or business. Heavy rains flood roads quickly, so people should avoid driving in areas where water covers the road.
