CHARLOTTE, N.C. — Cam Newton and the Carolina Panthers welcomed a special new quarterback to mini-camp Tuesday.

WSOC-TV reported that George Gring, a 6-year-old from Houston, Texas who battled Burkitt’s Lymphoma was visiting Panthers practice with the Make-A-Wish Foundation.

Newton and the rest of the Panthers welcomed their new QB with open arms, touring Gring around the facilities, decking him out in the proper gear — including matching gold cleats — and getting him out on the field with his new teammates.
