SMITHFIELD, N.C. — A teen has been charged with misusing the 911 system after calling emergency services over being grounded by her mother.

Officers responded to 16-year-old Jasmyne Keyonia Davis’ home shortly after midnight Tuesday after someone called from the residence screaming, according to WTVD.

When investigators arrived, they discovered Davis called 911 because she was upset that her mom grounded her and took away her cell phone.

Davis was booked into the Johnston County Jail under a $2,500 bond and will appear in court in August.
