FOX8 urges community to ‘give the gift of life’ with summer blood drive

FOX8 will be hosting American Red Cross blood drives throughout the summer.

According to the American Red Cross, most donated blood will be used within 42 days of collection.

The agency makes blood available to  more than 2,700 hospitals across the United States.

An 80 percent of blood donations to the Red Cross come through blood drives like the FOX8 Summer Blood Drive

One donation of blood can save up to three lives.

Here are the upcoming blood drives sponsored by FOX8:

Tuesday, June 17, until 7 p.m. at the First Baptist Church, 405 N. Main Street, High Point.

Wednesday, June 18: 10 a.m.-7 p.m. at Westminster Presbyterian Church, 3906 W. Friendly Ave., Greensboro.

Donors can call Sue Collins at 336-870-2960 for an appointment or log onto and use sponsor code “Westminster Presbyterian”

Monday, June 23: 2:30-7:30 p.m. at Mt. Tabor United Methodist Church, 3543 Robinhood Road, Winston Salem.

Donors can call Susan Allred at 336-309-8938 or log onto and use sponsor code “Fox 8"
