BURLINGTON, N.C. — A single act of kindness by a woman in the drive-thru line at a Burlington Starbucks turned into a ripple effect that inspired nearly 200 customers to “pay it forward.”

According to the Burlington Times-News, when a woman paid for her coffee around 7:15 a.m. Wednesday at the Starbucks on Huffman Mill Road, she told the barista she wanted to also pay for the person behind her in line.

When the barista told the next customer her order had been paid for, that woman decided to do the same — and the trend continued for about two and half hours.

The barista on duty said they see these gestures from time to time, but it usually only lasts for about 10 customers, not 200.

That photo is not of the store on Huffman Mill Rd. That is actually on University Dr. So Fox8 was it really at the Huffman Mill location or the University???

That IS the one on Huffman Mill. The one on University isn’t a stand alone store & it’s about 1/2 the size of this one.

Right on, April .. and I just left there… I should have done this too, but for the first time ever in this store, there wasn’t a single customer in line before or after me !
        Cool story !!

Erm, yes, it is the one on Huffman Mill. You can clearly see the Dunham’s Sporting Goods store right behind it…

So…..only one person got free coffee then, right?? Everyone pretty much paid for their coffee.

  • tiffany

Yeah. The last person took their free coffee and continued about their day. Looking like a horrible person. That’s not fair.

Or, there wasn’t anyone behind them in line.. Just a thought ;-)
Awesome, there are still good ppl out there!
