7th grader’s service dog gets photo in school yearbook

SAN ANTONIO, Texas — A 7th grader’s service dog was featured in her middle school’s yearbook, according to a report from KENS.

Rachel Benke has experienced epileptic seizures since birth. After two brain surgeries when she was 6-years-old, her mother says she has shown significant improvement.

Taxi, the half lab, half golden retriever companion dog, follows Rachel everywhere. He has attended Northside Independent School District alongside Rachel for the past four years.

Last year, Rachel’s mother jokingly asked “Where’s Taxi?” when the yearbooks were published.

This year, the school made it happen.
