KANNAPOLIS, N.C. — Police have arrested two people in connection with the death of a 15-month-old girl who was brutally assaulted in January, according to WSOC.

Malaya Heun was assaulted on Jan. 19 and died on Jan. 21 from injuries consistent with battered child syndrome. She suffered from blunt force trauma and hypovolemic shock, police said.

Police have charged John Turner and Alisha Carlisle with first-degree murder, felony child abuse inflicting serious injury and assault with a deadly weapon inflicting serious injury.

Kannapolis Police Chief J.W. Chavis said in a release this case, “was one of the worst cases of child abuse I have seen in over 30 years being a police officer.”

    that is so sad she was beautiful little girl people stop abusing kids they never ask to come in to this world! :( breaks my heart to know that people can do this kinda stuff to an inisent kid!

    People who can do this to a child should just be put down like the mad dog they are. I agree with Hobbes, public hanging works for me.

    Makes me want to be ill, so sad that these nasty a$$ people can even be near a child, a real cute child who went to sleep bruised and beaten only to wake to more pain, she may have never had a moment of warmth or love. Its time to put this trash to death.
