Asheboro woman arrested for selling false advertising to local businesses

ASHEBORO, N.C. — Police have arrested a woman for trying to sell businesses advertising in a publication that does not exist.

Kristal Auman Reeder, 44, of Asheboro, is charged with attempting to obtain property by false pretense.

Police were notified of the scam after a local business owner became suspicious and felt her offer might be a scam.

Following an investigation, it was determined that Reeder was trying to acquire $235 from the business without providing any services in return.

Reeder is confined in the Randolph County Jail under a $40,000 secured bond for this offense as well as three other counts of obtaining property by false pretense out of Guilford County.
