ERIE, Pa. — A 1-year-old baby is recovering after being hospitalized with a blood alcohol level three and a half times the legal limit.

WPXI reported that the child’s mother Jessica Bachmaier, of Erie, Penn., said she accidentally mixed vodka with baby formula.

The mother said her child is doing well and is in foster care. So far, no charges have been filed, but an investigation is ongoing.

Erie police said the baby’s blood alcohol content was 0.289 percent when she was brought to Saint Vincent Hospital last Wednesday. The legal limit for driving is .08.

The mother said fixed her daughter a bottle using bottled water. She said she thinks the man who was babysitting her child filled the bottle of water with vodka.

“Her motor skills weren’t all there. Like, she wasn’t cooperating. She was like a limp noodle,” Bachmaier said. “I just want her to be OK. I’m scared for her. I’m worried about her. I won’t sleep. I won’t eat.”

Another child born out of wedlock, welfare dependent and a mom who leaves her baby with an untrained, lowlife man! Get a life girl! You shouldn’t get her back because of your stupidity!

So anybody on assistance must be a crappy mother or father? If parents aren’t married, that means they are horrible people who endanger their children? Ok then…your logic makes so MUCH sense! O_o

    • single mom and nurse proud of both!

What gives you the right to assume that just because someone has a child out of wedlock automatically they are horrible people or welfare cases? There are plenty of us single parents that have twice as much education in our pinkies than ignorant judgmental people that has nothing to do with someone being careless or an accident happening. Look at other ways to try to make your obvious uneducated and judgemental self feel better than others? Do you even have a child

I don’t believe a word she is saying. You mean to tell me she did not smell the Vodka, (and yes vodka has a smell), when she opened the bottle to mix it with the formula? I also can’t believe the child just drank it. Just use a different formula than what a baby is used to and most babies will not take it. This tells me this is something the baby is used to. Bet they do this to make the child sleep and they just over did it this time. Glad the child is with social services.

I completely agree, the first thing I also thought was smell. Not to mention the burn of going down vodka has I know that baby must have felt it and refused it. Something’s not right.

The baby wouldnt of had to drink much to have a high level. But I agree I think this is something that is done often and they just over did it this time.
