GUILFORD COUNTY, N.C. – Looking for a furry friend? The Guilford County Animal Shelter is selling cats for $20 each.

The “Red Hot Cat Sale” starts on May 23rd and runs until Jul 4th, according to the shelter.

The $20 adoption fee is for cats six months and older. It includes a fully vetted pet with spay/neuter services, all shots, rabies shot and tags and microchip.

Shelter officials said they are selling the cats because the shelter has become overrun with them. They said they are offering the deal in order to save the cats’ lives.

The Guilford County Animal Shelter is at 4525 West Wendover Avenue in Greensboro. It’s open Monday through Saturday from 12 to 6 p.m. and 1 to 5 p.m. Sunday.

Cats and kittens that are not adopted are subject to euthanization.

Luvtheday, Declawing is stupid. Cats can live just fine indoors with claws. You sound too ignorant to own any animal.

Jim – If luvtheday wants a declawed cat why do you care? If they are willing to adopt a cat so it is not killed and they want a declawed one that is their business, as long as they adopt one. I don’t see you speaking up to say you want one…and before you go off on me, yes my cat is adopted from a shelter. Every pet I have ever had has been.

Heard there is a research place paying 50 bucks for every cat no questions asked maybe make a little vacation cash !!

cats that are declawed can also end up with bad habits like biting or using the floor for a cat box after i got my cat declawed he was fine for a while then he stated to using the floor to go to the bathroom on even will go on the towels i have had him for 7 years if i new this stuff before would have never had him declawed now i know its cruel but its too late to do anything i feel bad now there claws are like there fingers to them

Cats do fine in the house with claws. I had 5 at one time and lost 1 to cancer and two to old age.None of them were declawed and they never used my furniture or anything else in my house.I bought 2 of those really tall scratching posts which run about $40.00 or $50.00 but are well worth it if you have cats.I really hope these cats get good homes. They are wonderful pets!
