NCCU student hit by Durham Police officer in vehicle crash

DURHAM (WTVD) — Durham Police are investigating after an North Carolina Central University student claims one of their officers hit his vehicle in a early morning crash Friday.

The wreck happened around 2:30 a.m. Friday at the intersection of Highway 54 and Fayetteville Road near the Streets at Southpoint Mall.

“I was able to crawl over to the passenger side,” Troy Cole, the driver of a 2011 silver Camaro told WTVD. “I was hit by a police officer. And I had the green light.”

Cole said he was crossing over Fayetteville Road, headed to a nearby restaurant, when a Durham Police squad car hit the rear driver side of his vehicle.

The driver of the Camaro and the officer were treated for minor cuts and bruises.
