Yadkinville father accused of possessing drugs while at local park with child

YADKIN COUNTY, N.C. — A man in Yadkinville was arrested after deputies found him to be in possession of drugs while taking care of his child at a park.

Deputies received a call on May 3 from a concerned citizen at Yadkin County Park who observed a father allegedly involved in drug activity while with his child.

After speaking with Austin Trey Spillman, 24, deputies searched his vehicle and found pills, marijuana and drug paraphernalia.

Spillman was later arrested and charged with felony possession of heroin, misdemeanor possession of a Schedule II controlled substance, possession of marijuana, misdemeanor possession of drug paraphernalia and misdemeanor child abuse.

Spillman was given a $30,000 secured bond and a court date of May 7.
